Frequently Asked Questions

What is a clicker?
A clicker is a communication bridge that allows you to tell your pet exactly what they did right. No more ambiguity!

Do I have to use a clicker forever?
Nope! The clicker speeds the learning process of new behaviors, or assists with cleaning up a known behavior. Once your pet is comfortable with the routine and you are happy with the results, simple praise and love can maintain the behavior.

Can my old dog learn new tricks?
Of course they can! Older pets often have better focus than puppies, in fact. They may need you to creatively work through a past history, but they love to learn and build a closer relationship with you.

What is Cooperative Care?
Cooperative Care training is teaching our pet’s to participate in the vet exam and routine care such as nail trims. These times can be very stressful for the animals when they are restrained and don’t understand what we are doing next. By communicating with our pets and teaching them to be part of the routine, they know what to expect and you may not need any restraint at all!

Why use treats? Won't my dog get fat?
Treats are the “paycheck.” Are you going to be motivated to get through something difficult for 50 cents or will you work harder for $100? We can use healthy treats and make the training treats part of the meal to avoid weight gain. like the clicker, food rewards can be phased out over time.

Get Your Dog to Listen to You!

What Our Clients Say

Mindy

Jenn Hunt is a patient & caring individual, who is serious about dog training. When I had an issue with getting to the facility she would check up on us to see how training was going to make sure Tasha was progressing. I would recommend Jenn to anyone who is looking for a dedicated trainer.

June

Jennifer is a very professional and knowledgeable dog trainer. She is also very patient and kind. Great experience!!!

Linda

Jennifer, you have been such a big help to me and my rescue dog, Buddy. There has already been great progress with him and I look forward to the day when he is a confident, unafraid dog.

Phillip W. Barbee, PhD, LPC (Ret)

Jennifer (Jenn) Hunt trained my dog to assist me with my hearing loss. My trained service dog alerts me of phone calls, door bells, and most importantly – smoke and CO2 alerts. Jenn uses a Karen Pryor training model with clicker training to mold targeted behavior responses. This approach worked well for training hearing assistance behaviors. It also prepared my dog for the public access certification test. I recommend Jenn for all dog training needs.
